Emergency Relief

ECHO's Emergency Relief is a free confidential service which offers assistance with food and other essential items, for people experiencing financial hardship who live in the old Eacham Shire catchment, this includes the areas of Malanda, Yungaburra, Millaa Millaa, Tarzali and Jaggan. ECHO can provide limited assistance to people residing in other areas if it is the first time applying.

 

As of July 1st 2015, new guidelines are being implemented for providing Emergency Relief.  Not only will you need to provide an income statement/healthcare card but will will require additional CURRENT proof of address before we are able to give you assistance.

 

You will need to provide us with ONE OF EACH of the following: *All documents must show your NAME, ADDRESS AND DATE ISSUED/DATE EXPIRED. DOCUMENTS MUST BE THE LATEST ISSUED AND/OR BE NO OLDER THAN 3 MONTHS

 - A Centrelink Income Statement/Healthcare Card

 - A document with your current address that is NOT from centrelink (eg. rental receipt, electricity bill, phone bill, bank statement, other government agency correspondance, registration notice, council notice, pay slip etc.) - *Your license will not be accepted as proof of address for this purpose

 - AND a form of Photo ID

 

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE PROOF OF YOUR CURRENT RESIDENCE. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO DO SO, UNFORTUNATLY WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST YOU AT THIS TIME.

 

 

ECHO’s Emergency Relief service is only available Mon to Fri 9am-12noon. Emergency Relief we may be able to help you with includes:

 

  • Non-Perishable Grocery Items

  • Spar Food Vouchers

  • Assistance with Prescriptions

  • Pre-Paid Phone Cards

  • Cooking Items

  • Vouchers for Bus Travel
